Honoring the First Knight to Fall in WWII In 1941, Ensign William I. Halloran was killed at Pearl Harbor, becoming the first Knight of Columbus to die in World War II. While the Halloran family lost a beloved son and brother, the country gained a hero. Backed by the Knights of Columbus, a tremendous war bond was launched to fund the construction of a destroyer escort ship, named in honor of William — the USS Halloran. His brother Lawrence reflects on William's enduring legacy in this moving tribute to a man who embodies the virtues of "The Greatest Generation." #PearlHarbor75 Subscribe now to keep up with the Knights! http://bit.ly/SubscribeKnightsOfColumbus

In June 1918, the Imperial German Army was 35 miles outside Paris and advancing quickly with aims to capture the city and end World War I. Grossly outnumbered, the Allies managed to defeat the Germans in one of the bloodiest and most heroic battles of the war. On Nov. 21, 2021, a group of Knights of Columbus in France traveled to Bois Belleau to pay their respects at a monument dedicated to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
