It was a terrifying display of the growing violence on the streets of Syria, and for Shadi, the limit of what he could endure. Fearful for his family’s lives, he took them and fled. Canadian Priest and Knight Battles Wildfires

Father Gerald Mendoza is a priest of the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan in Northern Alberta and a Knights of Columbus. The wildfires raging across Canada have heavily affected the communities he serves in an isolated part of the country. In response to the disaster and destruction, Father Mendoza volunteered to battle the blaze to help keep his community safe. Overcoming Addiction and Serving God as a Knight

Jose Magana had fallen into the world of gangs and addiction. Amid his struggles, he had an encounter with Christ, putting him on a new path. His recovery was fraught with intense challenges, including the urge to commit suicide. Jose overcame his addiction and has now been sober for 29 years. He has since become a brother Knight and a regional growth director for the Knights of Columbus, and he believes his work to be a vocation, one of evangelization.
